Movies You Watched Because of the Trailer

I know this is a stranger topic, but I'm curious. What I mean here is, have you ever gone to a movie that you normally wouldn't have except that the trailer drew you in. doesn't matter if you liked the movie or not. Not a movie you would have watched anyway (like, if you watch every single super hero movie that comes out, you would have probably watches Thor in theaters either way).

In my case, I can think of two. I had no intention of seeing Disney's Lion King years ago (I hadn't watched their previous animated features since I was a teenager), but then I saw the first trailer, which was literally just the opening sequence with the Circle of life song. The art and animation was so different from other animated features I decided to go and see that one. I had the same effect with the first 'Where the Wild Things Are' trailer. I was really doubtful about seeing the movie when it came out, but then i saw the full length trailer while seeing a different movie and it looked good enough to check out. Luckily I had kids that also wanted to see it! Heh heh!

Those are the two I remember most. Anyone else?

To be perfectly honest, a few movies come to mind.

The entire Pirates Of The Caribbean series.

I know that alot of people were excited as hell (IN DRONES) to see Johnny Depp playing a pirate but that wasn't the only reason... Women were flocking to see Depp in eyeliner. It's like, really? But I digress.

I caved in, and now i can't wait until Pirates 4 tomorrow!

I'm going to see one soon, Cowboys & Aliens, but to be honest it looks amazing, great cast, and the story is a nice twist on an overdone genre. I don't really see movies because of trailers, I do plenty of research before I waste my money to see another fucking parody or Transformers movie (Which kills me, being a Transformers fan, but Michael Bay raped my childhood.)

heh! Transformers 2. I felt so bad about that one. Saw that with my wife. Don't think I've ever watched a movie with so many quality swings. One scene is a blow-your-mind awesome action sequence and the next is a brain-dead scene stolen from a hundred teen comedies. My wife and I did that as a 'date night'. I had to make it up to her!

And was I the only one who actually hoped that Sam was really dead? for one second, I thought his death would help correct the film's flaws because it was gutsy and unpredictable. Then they did the 'chosen one dream sequence' thing that sucked another ounce of my soul. But anyway...

Toy Story (saw it on The Santa Clause VHS in 1995,) The Hangover, Tron legacy (was iffy before seeing the trailer with Alice in Wonderland,) and X-Men First Class just because the trailers were awesome.

X-Men: First Class. The trailer was way better than the movie, which was....okay. I guess.
