| (A dejected Mike King is seated in a chair. He looks at a wall, more specifically a clock on the wall watching it inch closer and closer to midnight. King does not look impatient nor does he looks patient. He is just looking at the wall clock as it ticks away towards midnight. King glares at it like he does anytime he steps inside a wrestling ring as the clock hits 11:59:55. The second hand slows hits midnight and King looks down.)
Mike King: It's the bewitching hour now. The clock has struck midnight and a Cinderella story maybe inching closer to its midnight each and every second that clock counts. In 2005, I started my life in professional wrestling. I've feuded with men named Jeff-X, Daemon, Big Evil, Parker Rogue, Dan Sanders, Johnny Wildfire, Mike Parr, Tim Timmons, Brian Kirkland, Kimo Newton and Ryan Shane. I've bleed, I sweated all over the world. I've been injured beyond the point of a normal man's pain tolerance and still fought. This is why I am a gladiator. This is why in Mexico I am introduced as "El Gladiador." I am a warrior, a guerrero.
(King pauses to look at his wall which has titles from WIF and CZW lining it.)
King: My trophy case has many different titles in it ranging from hardcore to lightweight to midcard to tag team to a heavyweight title belt. However none would be more fitting than being the first EWA Gladiator Champion. Frankie Manning named a title right after what I am, and I am glad about that. Sure men like El Pablo had his EPIC title in CZW, Buck Evans renamed the EWA International title to the Outlaw title and Ryan Shane had created his imagination-land title. However these titles mean nothing to me. To me they are nothing but leather with metal on it. The Gladiator title however, that is me. That is my life.
(King turns and looks at the wall where he sees a framed picture of Brian Blaze, Brian Kirkland, Knox Harper, Ryan Shane and himself. King smiles quickly on the memories.)
King: With Brian Kirkland, Brian Blaze and later Ryan Shane and Knox Harper, I forged my legacy. Youthful Aggression was a way to change CZW to bring guys who were held down and kept down for far too long a chance to break the glass ceiling and reach our full potential. We had gone out and kicked ass, take names and did what we set out to do. Nothing stopped us except ourselves. Knox left because the desire left him. Both Brians got injured and were forced out of wrestling and Ryan, Ryan had family issues he had to attend to.
(King finally turns around to show his face.)
King: August 30th, for the first time ever, I face a man one-on-one who has been a thorne in the side of everyone here in the EWA. A Man who kept me down and kept me from not winning my first EWA match for weeks due to getting in my head during a match or blindsiding me like the coward he is. Xavier Reid, you are a lot like me. You want your spot like I did. However, you never did a damn thing to earn it. You never spent time paying dues to get where you are like I did. I was in CZW's Hardcore Division and a Tag Team champion before I ever said, I'm ready to break out from that glass ceiling. You are like that too. I see the hunger in your eyes. I've smelt it on your when you sweat. However you are not like me. You are like me when I was KING. You are an evil, evil man who wants you ticket to take you up through the glass ceiling handed to you on a silver platter.
(King's face gets angrier as he talks more and more.)
King:That's not how you do it. That's not how it is done Reid. You don't deserve to be given a chance to break through. You don't deserve shit Reid. In Mexico, you will get what you deserve which is nothing but an ass kicking and not the Gladiator title. You step in with the last member of Youthful Aggression Reid, the last of that dying breed of wrestler which you don't see anymore. We are hungry and that's where the similarities end because we are different. You are a gutless coward that thinks he is entitled to everything. Me, I am a man that knows I am a gladiator and I am not asking to get world title shots, I am asking to do what I love doing, wrestling. When it comes to our two out of three falls Super Lucha match, the only way you will win is to kill me. As long as my heart is beating, I will come back and come back and come back. You will have to kill me to beat me because I am a gladiator and I looking to fight to the death in Mexico to win the Gladiator title.
(King starts walking away.)
King: Rising From The Flames will be the end of you Xavier or the end of me. One man will not be back after this match.
(King walks out of the room and turns off the light as the scene ends.)
