Just as Johnson was getting comfortable and making a name for himself, the federation folded and his contract was sold to the EWWF where he really began to come into his own. During this time the owners of the CEW began to take notice, eventually contacting CJ and offering him a chance to "play in the big leagues". In 2003 he took the offer. Johnson reached a level plenty dream of, but few actually achieve, holding nearly every major title in the organization multiple times (Television, North American, Hardcore, Tag team) but never quite reaching his ultimate goal of world champion, though he came close several times. CJ headlined a few major PPVs and was a part of several of that federations MAJOR storylines including "xXx-Rated" "The Time" and the biggest feud in CEW history when he turned on his long time home and joined the HCW (the company that originally spawned the CEW) when it's owner came back to claim what he felt was his. CJ was HCW champion during the "WAR" ppv during the battle to the rights of the company, but ultimately lost the match and the HCW folded. In 2007 Jason Ingle contacted CJ offering him the opportunity to be more than just another ring warrior. Feeling the CEW was no longer utilizing him properly, and seeing the door to his world title chances slowly closing, Johnson finally took Ingle up on his offer and began working part time in commercials, and later film. Finally feeling his star power was being "appreciated" CJ relished in the opportunity to do big budget films with some of his favorite movie stars, and has been doing so full time ever sense.
